Whatever happened to Hey Ya!? Nobody plays it anymore…
Friday was good, besides not feeling too well in the morning– the holiday party was lavish as usual, and there’s always hours of entertainment in wandering around, people-watching and feelin’ the season.
So, we weren’t feeling the last-minute-camping vibe, so we opted for Ocean’s Twelve and ice skating at Centennial Olympic Park on Saturday instead. Only there was a two hour line for skating. I’m not waiting two hours to get someone else’s athlete’s foot and gigantic bruises on my arms from slamming into the wall.
So, it was wings and Pabst Blue Ribbon at Moes & Joes, in the Highlands near Skippy’s place. This is an awesome bar. They only serve beer, and PBR pitchers are plenty cheap. Good wings too. Though I am somewhat against any establishment operating in this century not accepting any form of credit card or check, all was forgiven when I tasted their delicious (ultra-cheap) wings.
Back to work. I can’t imagine this being a short week, with the vacation-anticipation taking over and dragging out the days.

Did you see Ocean’s Twelve, then? If not, go. I caught it on Friday and it’s really excellent. Not as good as the original, but certainly worlds better than most sequels, and with enough plot twists to keep me happy.

Yeah, we did see Ocean’s Twelve. Heather and I both enjoyed it. I liked it for the style and the willingness to not be 100% formulaic in their approach. The movie was so stylistically rich, it was like reading a coffee table book full of movie-star in-jokes set in gorgeous Italy and Holland.

Two of my bands have covered Hey Ya. Guess who sang it. Yeah. Boy did I make a genuine ass of myself in front of hundreds of people.
“Ya’ll don’t wanna hear me… you just wanna dance.”

No kidding? Man, Brady singing “Hey Ya”. These are the things your parents can truly be proud of.
